The health and safety of the children and staff attending the centre each day is of major importance. National Quality Standard Area 2 Children’s Health and Safety ensures every child’s health and wellbeing is safeguarded and promoted.
Our policies and procedures are in place in order to prevent illness and injury and to foster healthy safe life skills that children, staff and parents can utilise in their home and future life.
IMMUNISATION
Government legislation requires the centre to have proof of and copy of immunisation before enrolling. The only documentation we can accept is:
- Immunisation Register (ACIR) Immunisation History Statement an Australian Childhood
- an ACIR Immunisation Exemption Conscientious Objection Form (IMMU12) which has been certified by an immunisation provider and a parent/guardian
- an ACIR Immunisation Exemption – Medical Contraindication Form (IMMU11) which has been certified by an immunisation provider
- an ACIR Immunisation History form on which the immunisation provider has certified that the child is on a recognised catch-up schedule.
The last 3 must be signed by the child’s doctor. An Interim Vaccination Objection Form for Enrolment in NSW Child Care Centers needs also needs to be completed for enrolments after 1st January 2016.
Families can get a copy of their child’s immunisation details by calling 1800 653 809.
In accordance with the Public Health Act, the Director must notify the Public Health Unit of any case of a vaccine-preventable disease. Children not medically immunised will be excluded during an outbreak of a vaccine-preventable disease on the direction of the Public Health Unit.
